The Demi-Pointe is a wonderful way for a dancer to transition from a Vesta or Pluton ballet slipper to one of Wear Moi's popular pointe shoe styles. This satin shoe is handmade in the turned construction method and features evenly spaced pleats on the bottom/front of the shoe. The Demi-Pointe contains a leather sole and a lightweight box toe, like traditional pointe shoes. The most important thing to remember about a Demi-Pointe is that it does not contain a shank – the most vital part of a pointe shoe to stand en pointe. The most effective use of a Demi-Pointe is when it is part of the syllabus required by a school or conservatory, where a teacher can use this tool in the training process towards pointe work. Typically, teachers will recommend ballet slippers at the barre and a Demi-Pointe for center work one year before the student advances to "full" pointe. This allows the foot to become conditioned to the feel of a pointe shoe. In addition, a Demi-Pointe develops and strengthens muscles in preparation for full pointe work. Also, the young dancer becomes familiar with tying their ribbons. The Demi-Pointe is available with pre-stitched, high-quality satin or cotton ribbons free of charge. Demi-Pointe's sizing follows the UK sizing system.
